History
The House that Thinks, Drinks,
and Breathes™
Home Alive!™ is the project of Everdale Environmental Learning Centre, Harvest Homes and Brad Peterson Environmental Management. It aims to demonstrate how we can all make an immediate environmental difference on the home front. It uses environmentally friendly building methods and materials with a focus on livability, affordability and beauty.
- Under the inspired leadership of Ben Polley of Harvest Homes, Home Alive!™ was first built in February 2003 in a Guelph warehouse by an enthusiastic team of 200+ volunteers.
- It was moved to Toronto and reassembled as a Feature Model at the 2003 National Home Show where it attracted tens of thousands of visitors. It inspired a positive and popular reaction. Millions more were exposed to the resulting media coverage.
- The home is now a permanent, inhabited showcase at The Everdale Environmental Learning Centre in Hillsburgh, Ontario (between Toronto and Guelph).
